How We Help

employed disabled adult
Information and Assistance

We provide information, assisstance, and referral services to members, people with developmental disabilities, their families, professionals, students, and the general public.

Special Education Advocacy

Individual assistance is provided to families of students in special education and can consist of giving information, listening to concerns, problem solving, and attending IEP (Individualized Education Programs) meetings.

Individual Assistance for Adults/Families

Our staff and volunteer citizen advocates listen to concerns, help solve problems, attend Family Care meetings, locate resources, and advocate for needed supports and services.

Training and Workshops

People with disabilities, families, professionals, and the general public can learn about topics such as disability laws, special need trusts, and public policy through workshops and programs offered during the year. We offer assistance to community based organizations that want to build their capacity to include people with disabilities.

Public Awareness/Material Dissemination

The Arc has a wealth of current information on disabilities. Newsletters, a lending library, and a speaker bureau are available.

Advocacy for Change

We collaborate with parents and other groups to advocate for systems change by educating community leaders and elected officials.
