What is The Arc of Racine ?

The Arc is a membership organization that works for a better quality of life for children and adults with cognitive, intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.

What Does The Arc Stand For?

Our name The Arc (capital A, small r and c) is not an acronym, the letters only reflect the past. What The Arc stands for is a grassroots organization that has a long history in advocating for laws, rights and needed services for people with disabilities.

The Arc of Racine is an affiliate of The Arc of the U.S. and The Arc-Wisconsin. The organization is driven by various beliefs and position statements on issues important to people with disabilities and their families.

Mission and Vision

The Arc of Racine’s mission is to advocate for and provide information and services to improve lives. Our vision is that people with disabilities will exercise their civil rights by being fully integrated and included in the community with lives that are as independent, productive and self -determined as possible.

Working to Make Our Vision Reality

The Arc educates, supports and empowers people with disabilities, parents, family members and volunteers to get needed services.

The Arc helps communities better understand and respond to the needs of people with disabilities.

The Arc works with people with disabilities, families, community organizations, local officials and school districts to improve services.
